Ioannis Maghiros is a Principal Scientific Officer at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS), in Seville, Spain. He has been working for the European Commission since 1990 as a scientific Officer engaged in various research and management activities in the field of Information and Communication Technologies. Since 2002, he leads a team engaged in policy impact assessment research that focuses on the way the life of individuals is supported by Digital Technologies ('Living Digitally').

He is currently working on evidence-based policy research in the area of socio-economic implications of ICT in Health Care provision. The research focused on Integrated Telehealth and Telecare in Europe and included an 8 EU country comparison and a panel survey of 14000 Internet users as to their eHealth needs. It will focus on benchmarking success of integrated care implementation efforts in Europe as well as on the adoption of eHealth by acute Hospitals in Europe.
