Anders Grimsmo

Professor public health at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim

Anders Grimsmo is professor public health at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway and medical advisor at the Norwegian National Health Net.

Doctorate in Medicine in 1983 on self care. He has published about 80 scientific articles in the field of public health: about health promotion and prevention, health services for the chronic ill, social security, primary health care statistics and quality assurance. The last years most publications have been related to health informatics. Main clinical background is general practice from 1983 to 2003. He is at present assigned as:

  • Board member of National ICT - the Regional Health Enterprises' common steering committee for ICT projects in Specialist Health Care Services
  • Member of the Joint Committee of Quality Assurance in Primary Health Care of the Norwegian Medical Association
  • Member of the Health Directorate advisory group on Health Informatics
  • Norwegian representative of WONCA's International Classification Committee.

The main research activity at the moment is about developing clinical models for integrated care with support of electronic tools:

  • Development and deployment of a national patient summary and ePrescription
  • NEXES - Supporting Healthier and Independent Living for Chronic Patients and Elderly (an EU-project involving clinical partners in Barcelona, Athena and Trondheim
  • Care coordination and patient trajectories
  • Extraction of clinical and administration data from EHR for planning, quality assurance and research
